I have had a BT phone line and Internet connection for a good couple of years....and I have not experienced any major problems with them. At the moment, I am currently moving house and I am not changing to another telephone company!

I would definetly recommend with BT.

BT are the largest phone carrier in the UK, and while they are the most stable in terms of hardware they are without doubt the least service orientated company imaginable. When moving house ther last time one of their operatives told me I was not one of their customers and hung up the phone on me.

They can take up to (brace yourself) ten days to get a line installed at an address.

My advice is get BT to set up your line, then find the cheapest call carrier you can when you get here. That means you will end up paying line rental to BT ($18 ish) but pay ($0.02) per minute per call to a call provider.

or get skype. and of course the calls are then free.

Hope that helps

10 days is a pretty long time to get a line installed...and them putting the phone down you just because your not a customer is not my idea of good customer service.

If you are moving home, ain't that a chance for BT to invite you to become a customer?!!!!
