Public Disability Services
The Government is keen to help more disabled people to live independently. There are a range of support initiatives for disabled movers.
Accessible housing registers
Some local authorities have introduced accessible housing registers. Search for accessible housing in your local area now or contact your local authority to see if they have a register.
Disability Facilities Grants
All local councils offer a means tested grant called Disability Facilities Grants, to help towards the cost of adapting your home to enable you to continue to live there.
Eligible work includes:
- Providing ramps
- Door widening
- Stair lifts
- Level access showers
